北京土木建筑学会电气设计委员会是以中央各部委、解放军各军兵种在北京的直属设计院(所)、北京市和大专院校所属设计院(所)为主体，并适当吸收有关符合条件的电气设备生产单位，在自愿参加的原则下组成的学术组织。目前成员单位有两百余家工程设计企业和一百余家电气生产企业，拥有数千名电气设计师、数十名在国内外享有崇高声誉的专家、学者。
电气设计委员会的宗旨是，依靠会内各成员单位的技术实力，针对工程设计的需要，开展各种形式的国内外电气技术交流活动和咨询服务，密切设计、建设和有关电气设备生产之间的联系，促进技术进步、设计和设备水平的不断提高和我国工程建设和电气事业的发展。
电气设计委员会坚持以学术交流为中心，根据国家经济建设和工程设计的需要，有针对性地开展形式多样的技术交流活动。平均每年举办二十多次学术报告会、技术讲座、技术培训、专家咨询、学术论坛、新技术新设备的推广应用、参观访问等交流活动，每季度出版一期内部技术交流刊物《电气设计技术》，每年举办一次规模较大的电气设计与设备信息交流会。

Electrical Design Committee of the Civil Engineering Architectural Society of Beijing is an academic organization voluntarily composed of the principals of ministries and commissions of CPC Central Committee, design institute (office) directly subordinated to arms of Chinese People’s Libration Army in Beijing, design institute (office) subordinated to Beijing Municipal and universities and colleges and appropriate qualified electrical equipment manufacturers. At present, the Committee has more than two hundred engineering design companies and a hundred electrical equipment manufacturers, thousands of electrical designers and dozens of experts and scholars enjoying lofty reputation at home and abroad.
The tenet of Electrical Design Committee is: to conduct diversified domestic and foreign electrical technology exchange activity and consulting service based on requirements on project design relying on technical merits of members in the committee and keep close contact among design, construction and electrical equipment manufacture to promote technological advance and continuous improvement of design and equipment levels and development of engineering construction and electrical cause in our country.
